Overview
Washington State is experiencing multiple climate impacts from climate change, and these are expected to intensify in the future, including more frequent and severe heat extremes, reduced spring snowpack, higher stream temperatures, more frequent wildfires, smoke, and more.
New state law, adopted in 2023, requires Battle Ground and other local governments planning under the Growth Management Act to include a climate change and resiliency element in their comprehensive plans, and some must also include a greenhouse gas emissions mitigation sub-element — (RCW 36.70A.070(9)).
This planning effort will identify effective and equitable climate actions for us to take. The intent is to make decisions that are consistent with our shared goals as a community.
