The Board makes recommendations to city council in regards to public parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities to ensure a well integrated and complete program for their use. Board members will help develop public interest in activities of the parks and recreation department and solicit participation from community groups, the general public, and public and private entities.
Board members include residents, property owners and business owners within the city's urban growth area. The term of office of each of the six positions is three years.
There is one youth representative position on the board, filled by a youth between the ages of fourteen and eighteen who resides in the city’s urban growth boundary or who attends school within the Battle Ground School District. The term of office for the youth position is two years with the period of service to run from September of one year through June of the second year.
Park Advisory Board members are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council. Members serve as volunteers, without compensation.
