1. What day of the month is my bill due?

All City of Battle Ground utility bills are mailed out on the last business day of every month and are due on the 20th of the following month. For example, if January 31st is the last business day of the month, the bill is sent out on that day and is due on the 20th of February.

2. What is the minimum monthly bill?

For 2022, the minimum monthly bill for new customers is $83.07 per month. For further information, please visit the Utility Services and Rates page.

3. Does the City offer auto-pay?

The city offers a number of ways to pay your utility bill.

There are two types of automatic payments that customer's may enroll in with The City of Battle Ground.

1. Fill out our direct-debit payment form. This option has no additional fees. The payment will be taken directly from the customer's checking account.
2. Using the utility account manager. Recurring payments can be made with debit/credit, or checking account. The date of payment is set by the customer. All payments made through the utility account manager are subject to a service fee that goes directly to the processing agent.

4. My home is vacant - why am I still receiving a bill?

Minimum monthly charges are required for the maintenance and upkeep of the water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure.

5. Why does my landlord get a copy of my late notice?

In the State of Washington, the owner of the property is ultimately responsible for the utility bills. The city of Battle Ground bills tenants as a courtesy to the owner, but must notify the owner if the service is past due.

6. What happens if my utilities get disconnected/shut-off?

Customers who are in past-due (delinquent) status receive a late notice stating as much. The past-due notice contains important information, including the amount owing for immediate payment, and the final date payment will be accepted without further penalty.

Should the utility account remain in past-due status upon the beginning of the shut-off day stated on the bill, a $27.00 administration fee will be assessed on the account, and services will be terminated.

Any customer who is disconnected for non-payment shall not be reconnected until the past
due balance is paid in full. 

After-hours reconnections (those made after 5:00pm) will include an additional charge of
$95.00, which will be added to the account and due with the next regular-bill.

7. What is a "unit" of water; how much water is in each "unit"?

For utility bills, a "unit" of water is 100 cubic feet, or approximately 748 gallons of water.

8. How are my sewer consumption charges determined?

An industry-standard Winter Water Average is used to determine your sewer consumption
and rate for the year. The utility department averages your water usage for the months of Dec., Jan., Feb., and
Mar. and uses this average consumption number as your sewer usage until the next Winter
Water Average is determined.

For new customers, this average is set at 6 until an average can be determined.

9. When is shut-off day?

Shut-off day varies month-to-month. Please refer to the utility cutoff calendar for the current months' cutoff date.

10. My bill is the same every month - does the city estimate usage?

The city does not estimate water consumption; water meters are read on a monthly basis.

It is not unusual to see the same amount of water consumption on your bill for consecutive months because water consumption is billed in increments of 100 cubic feet (approx. 748 gallons).
