[ARCHIVED] Crews Respond to Snow & Ice

Snow Plow

The weather forecast continues to suggest cold temperatures and the possibility of snow and rain over the next several days.  City public works crews and police officers teamed up over the long holiday weekend to monitor and respond to road conditions, and they continue to do so.

The city is equipped with two snow plows that also spread sand, two trucks with deicer sprayers, and an experienced, dedicated crew.

Pre-treating roads with a deicing solution of salt and water is only effective when roads are clear and dry.   Our crews monitor conditions and the opportune time to effectively apply deicer.  Sand is used at main intersections, corners and sloped roadways. Plowing is prioritized for main thoroughfares.

As always, please drive responsibly. Give yourself extra stopping distance on ice and snow…even if you have chains or studded tires.

Thank you, Battle Ground!
