[ARCHIVED] Parks & Recreation Programs Grow with Addition of Youth Sports

Soccer Shots Youth Sports Classes

Recreational opportunities for kids in Battle Ground have expanded with the addition of youth sports programs.  Battle Ground Parks & Recreation has partnered with Skyhawks and Soccer Shots to bring sports camps and classes to Battle Ground’s Kiwanis Park this summer.

Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle.  A variety of week-long camps in Battle Ground are offered to kids aged 4 - 6 and 7 - 12.   More information and registration is available by visiting Skyhawks in Battle Ground.

Soccer Shots coaches utilize creative and imaginative games to focus on age-appropriate soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting.  Each class highlights positive character traits such as respect, teamwork and appreciation.  Weekday camps and Saturday classes are offered to a range of ages that begin with 2 - 3 year-olds through ages 5 - 8.  Program details and registration is available at Soccer Shots in Battle Ground.

Battle Ground Parks & Recreation is committed to providing recreational opportunities for Battle Ground’s youth.

“Summer is the perfect time for kids to get creative and stay active,” said Recreation & Facilities Manager Kim Cederholm, “Our expanding programs and partnerships give Battle Ground kids that opportunity right here in their own community.”

In addition to partnerships with Skyhawks and Soccer Shots, Battle Ground Parks & Recreation has partnered with Clark County Family YMCA to bring summer day camps to the Battle Ground Community Center.  Day camp information and registration is available at YMCA in Battle Ground.

Battle Ground’s annual Summer Playground Program returns June 28 with weekly activities for kids to do at home or on the road throughout the summer.  The program is free and includes downloadable activity packets and supply packets for pick up at the Battle Ground Community Center.  Visit Battle Ground’s Summer Playground Program for more information.
