Join Battle Ground Parks & Recreation and community park adopters for the annual Park Appreciation Day work party on Saturday, April 17, from 9:00 am to noon.
Work parties will take place at 3 local parks, and are hosted by the organizations who have adopted the parks through the city’s Adopt-A-Park program:
- Kiwanis Park (422 SW 2nd Ave) - hosted by IQ Credit Union
- Fairgrounds Park (912 East Main Street) - hosted by Cub Scout Pak 443
- Central Park (414 East Main Street) - hosted by the Lewis River Rotary Club
The greatest need for volunteers is at Kiwanis Park and Fairgrounds Park.
Volunteers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate and are asked to pre-register online at www.cityofbg.org/ParkAppreciation.
Tasks may include picking up litter, raking and weeding flower beds, and cleaning playground equipment. Participants should dress for the weather and the work at hand, and may want to bring gloves. Some tools are provided and volunteers are welcome to bring their own hand tools.
Heath protocols will be followed. The Department of Health requires individuals to wear face coverings outdoors when a six-foot distancing is not maintained.
Park Appreciation Day celebrates Volunteer Appreciation Month and Earth Day, and is a great way for the community to gather together to help support parks and keep Battle Ground beautiful!
