Please join us in thanking Veterans and for a virtual commemoration of Veterans Day from the Battle Ground Veterans Memorial
A Veterans Day message from Deputy Mayor Philip Johnson, U.S. Army Retired:
Battle Ground salutes and thanks all of you who have heard the call of freedom, and have participated in its defense. On this special day we recognize all the Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and Space Force personnel for what you are doing and or have done on behalf of this country, and from the bottom of our hearts we say thank you, and God bless you for your service. Military service requires quite the commitment, from the greenest recruit starting their first day of boot camp to our oldest WWII veterans who served their first day some eighty years ago. That commitment to our country has never wavered and is a proud testament to our fellow citizens and this country.
We also ask, as you thank our veterans for their service, that you take a moment and remember those who gave their all in defense of the country. Our remembrance wall at Kiwanis Park holds the names of thirty-one men who left their north county homes and responded to the call of freedom, and did not make it back. May we never forget their sacrifice, as we remember and thank the others who are serving now and who have served in the past.
