[ARCHIVED] Caring, Connecting, Community: Battle Ground’s Yard Appreciation Day

Yard Appreciation Day

In April of each year the City of Battle Ground Parks & Recreation Department commemorates National Volunteer Month and Earth Day by hosting a Park Appreciation Day work party at local community parks. This April’s event will move forward, but with an inspired adaptation in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and comply with ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy’.

This year, on Saturday, April 25th, Battle Ground Parks & Recreation will celebrate Yard Appreciation Day and invites community members to participate. Let’s take time to get outside and get our hands a little dirty! No matter if you have a large backyard or a just patio space, we hope you will join us – even small actions can make a big difference.

We will share yard appreciation and Earth Day ideas and activities on the City’s Facebook page the week leading up to Yard Appreciation Day (April 20 – 24) .  We also want to hear from and connect with you, our Battle Ground neighbors and community members. What actions are you taking to celebrate Earth Day? What are your favorite yard or patio tips? Share your ideas and Yard Appreciation Day stories, photos and/or videos with us here.

Although COVID-19 restrictions might keep us from physically connecting at our annual Park Appreciation Day work party, we can continue to care and connect in our community, right from our own backyards.
