The City of Battle Ground continues to follow State and Federal regulations and guidance from health officials related to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The City’s March 16 Declaration of Civil Emergency allows the City to respond swiftly and legally in order to protect public health, safety and welfare during a time of quickly-changing conditions.
Governor Inslee’s March 23rd “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” Executive Order requires every Washingtonian to stay home unless they need to pursue an essential activity.
The city’s management team has established policies and procedures to allow essential City staff to work while also complying with the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order. This means that some staff will work by telecommuting and some will work in City offices with strict protocols in place to ensure appropriate social distancing. Our primary responsibility is to protect the health and welfare of the community and our employees.
The City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated on March 13. The EOC team, a structured team of City staff, works to develop and coordinate plans to ensure essential city services continue. The EOC remains active, now in a virtual setting, to respond to quickly-changing circumstances.
The City of Battle Ground continues to provide essential services. These services include police, fire/EMS, public works (including water, sewer and stormwater drainage utilities), finance, court and community development (building and planning).
Although City offices are closed, staff remains available by phone or online to assist essential needs of residents and businesses. We ask that community members use staff resources judiciously and refer to the City website at www.cityofbg.org for information about specific services and the City’s COVID-19 response.
The City’s COVID-19 page at www.cityofbg.org/816/COVID-19-Response contains several informational resources related to the COVID-19 public health emergency that will assist both residents and businesses. It also includes a link to the Governor’s latest order and a summary of what is closed and what is open.
We are witnessing the resilience and the compassion of the Battle Ground community. Please continue to follow Stay Home, Stay Healthy orders. Working together toward this common goal will help us get through these difficult and unprecedented days.
