[ARCHIVED] Battle Ground seeks applicants for new Parks & Community Engagement Advisory Board

The City of Battle Ground is seeking applicants for its Parks and Community Engagement Advisory Board.  The board makes recommendations to City Council regarding the development and operations of parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities, and the utilization of these resources for well-integrated and comprehensive programming.

Board members will engage with the community to evaluate parks and recreation programs and objectives, to develop interest in activities, and to solicit participation.  The board will take part in the planning and coordination of community wide events.

Formerly the Park Advisory Board, the Parks and Community Engagement Advisory Board adds an important community engagement aspect, designed to develop and encourage more recreational programming and community events in Battle Ground.

Board members are volunteers appointed by the Mayor.  Six of the seven board members are residents, property owners or business owners within the city’s urban growth boundary and serve staggered terms of 3 years each.   A seventh position is reserved for a youth representative between the ages of 14 and 18 who resides in the city’s urban growth boundary or who attends school within the Battle Ground School District.  The term of the youth position is two years from September of the first year through June of the second year.

Visit the Parks & Community Engagement Advisory Board page for additional information and to apply.
