Do you have a backflow prevention device? If you have an in-ground sprinkler system, the answer should be “Yes!”
State law requires that you install and maintain a backflow prevention device on your line and have it inspected each year. A properly working device will prevent potentially contaminated water from reversing direction and entering the potable water supply.
Backflow devices are also required on building water supply lines, fire protection lines, gas charged dispensing machines, bar equipment and private wells.
Water customers with systems that require a backflow prevention device will be receiving a mailed reminder to have their devices tested by a certified tester no later than May 31.
