[ARCHIVED] SE Grace Avenue & Rasmussen Boulevard Intersection to become All-Way Stop

The intersection of SE Rasmussen Boulevard and SE Grace Avenue will  transition from a 2-way stop (east-west) intersection to an all-way stop intersection with the installation of a stop sign and painted stop bar on both the north and southbound lanes of SE Grace Avenue.  The all-way stop will facilitate east and westbound traffic and pedestrians entering the intersection.

Both residential and commercial growth has resulted in an increase of traffic in the area – volumes high enough to warrant and require an all-way stop by the Federal Highway Administrations’ Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).   Traffic signage in the City of Battle Ground is regulated by the MUTCD.

The installation of the stop signs, bars and all related costs is the responsibility of the developer of a new subdivision located southeast of Battle Ground Village.  The projected traffic volume associated with the new subdivision triggered the MUTCD requirement for the fully stop controlled intersection.

At the time of installation, flags and signage stating “New Traffic Pattern Ahead” will be affixed at each leg leading to the intersection.  Both drivers and pedestrians should be extra cautious when using the intersection, as it will take some time for those using the roadways to become accustomed to the change.

The installation is expected to occur within the next few weeks. Updates will be posted to the City’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CityofBGWA.
