[ARCHIVED] Welcome to the City’s new website!

Visitors to the City of Battle Ground’s website will discover a fresh new look, improved accessibility, and updated content designed to serve and engage city residents, business, and the larger community of website users.

The city’s website redesign process began in February of this year and involved a team of staff from each of the city’s departments.  Goals for the redesigned website included improved user experience and accessibility, a commitment to transparency and accountability, easily accessed services, and an aesthetically pleasing site reflective of the community.

Accessibility to all users was a key component of the redesign project.  With nearly 40% of all users accessing the city’s site via mobile device, the redesign team focused on a platform and technology that was mobile friendly.  The site was built using ADA compliance tools and features a third-party translation service.

The redesign, however, did not simply transfer old content to a new platform.  Each department was committed to improving its website pages with a user's perspective in mind.  For some departments, it meant a comprehensive overhaul with new content and navigation.  All departments worked to ensure users have easy access to updated information and city services.

The site’s new look reflects the city of Battle Ground and its beautiful surroundings.  Unlike the city’s previous website that featured the same homepage photos for 8-plus years, the new platform allows for photo updates - perhaps for a change of season, or simply for the fun of it.   Graphics are used throughout the site to provide interest and to guide users.

A new feature on the website’s homepage - Open Government - provides easy access to information that is often difficult to find.  Examples include a map and list of active development projects; city property, sales, and utility tax information; annual audit and financial reports; City Council meeting minutes; a map and reports of criminal activity; and more.

“We believe that transparency builds trust, “notes Mayor Mike Dalesandro, “The City of Battle Ground is committed to accessible, accountable and transparent government practices.”

While the launch of the new website site marks the culmination of the redesign team’s project, the website remains dynamic as the city continues to update information and develop new online services.
