[ARCHIVED] Volunteers to gather for Community Day of Service on September 9

Day of Service Volunteers
Battle Ground is joining Clark County Connects' annual Day of Service on Saturday, September 9.  This is the 2nd year that Battle Ground volunteers will be participating in the annual county-wide effort.  We know that connecting to accomplish goals, big or small, makes for a strong community!

The Battle Ground work party, organized by the city’s Parks & Recreation Department, is scheduled for 9 am to 12 noon.  Volunteers will be caring for public places by cleaning up litter, raking/weeding flower beds, and spreading bark chips at two locations - Kiwanis Park at 422 SW 2nd Ave and City Hall at 109 SW 1st St.

While we hope for cooperative weather, the work will carry on rain or shine; participants should dress appropriately for the weather and for the work at hand.  A limited supply of tools and equipment will be available, but we ask that folks bring their own work gloves, small gardening tools labeled with the owner's name, and if possible, wheelbarrows. The Parks & Recreation Department will provide refreshments.

Individuals, families and groups are welcome and encouraged to participate. A responsible adult must accompany minors and take care to manage younger children appropriately in a work environment. We ask that scout groups, organizations or other groups of six or more register in advance by emailing or calling Battle Ground Parks & Recreation at 360-342-5380. Individuals and families are welcome to register onsite the day of the event.

For questions or more information, contact Battle Ground Parks & Recreation at 360-342-5380 or by email.
