[ARCHIVED] New Fire Marshal serves City of Battle Ground

Fire District 3 Chief Steve Wrightson introduced newly hired Fire Marshal Chris Drone at the June 5  Battle Ground City Council meeting.   The city contracts with Fire District 3 for fire and emergency response services and shares the cost of the new Fire Marshal position.
 
Fire Marshal Drone will work with the city’s Community Development Department to provide professional and technical services in the field of fire prevention, investigation, public education, plan review, inspections, and fire/building code enforcement.  

Drone’s career includes six years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps and 10 years in various community development and fire prevention roles in in both Washington and Colorado.  Most recently, he served the City of Vancouver as Plans Examiner and Lead Deputy Fire Marshal.  He earned a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University and an Associate’s Degree in Building Inspection Technology.  He holds certifications as a Fire Inspector, Building Official, and Master Code Professional.  Currently licensed as an Engineer in Training, he is actively pursuing his license as a Professional Fire Protection Engineer.  He is a member of several professional organizations, serves on the Clark County Safe Schools Task Force and is a board member of the Northwest Fire Investigators Association.

Prior to the collaboration with Fire District 3, the city contracted with Clark County for Fire Marshal services.
 
“Fire Marshal Drone has the knowledge, experience and attributes we seek in this position,” said Community Development Director Erin Erdman, “The partnership with Fire District 3 allows for the  sharing of a highly qualified professional to meet the needs of both the city and the district.”
