Please join us in welcoming the newest member of city council, Cherish DesRochers, who was recently appointed by the council to Position No. 6. Ms. DesRochers had recently served in the position in a pro-tem capacity for Councilmember Bill Ganley while he was on extended leave. After Mr. Ganley’s passing in late November, the position became vacant and the pro-tem position expired.
On December 19th, after seeking, receiving, and reviewing applications for the vacant position, city council appointed Cherish DesRochers to serve in the position until its expiration date of December 31, 2017. Prior to her service on city council, Ms. DesRochers served on the city’s Planning Commission.
The City of Battle Ground operates under the Council-Manager Plan of Government. City council is responsible for the legislative function of the city such as establishing policy, passing local ordinances, approving budget appropriations, and developing an overall vision. The city council appoints a city manager to implement its policies, serve as advisor, and oversee all administrative operations.
