The Battle Ground Police Department wants to alert the community about reports of package theft or attempted theft from front porches. In two cases reported within a week, witnesses saw a female suspect pull up to a residence in a red Mini Cooper, approach the house, knock on the door, and then take packages that had been delivered to the home. A third report of packages stolen was received, but without suspect or vehicle description.
While all three of these reported thefts occurred in the NW quadrant of the city, residents throughout the city are encouraged to be particularly watchful and report any suspicious activity. If you witness this type of criminal activity, immediately call 9-1-1. If you have non-urgent information that might assist police or if you think you may be a victim, call 3-1-1.
The Police Department also encourages citizens to use alternate package delivery methods to avoid being a victim:
* If you aren't home during the day, send the package to a neighbor or relative who is home;
* Request a signature confirmation on each delivery so a package will not be left at its destination unless someone is present to sign for it; or
* Send packages to your work address or a business that accepts packages instead of your home.
