[ARCHIVED] Rx Disposal event nets 192 pounds of drugs

Battle Ground Police Department’s Safe & Secure Rx Disposal event was successful in collecting 192 pounds of unused medications. The proper disposal of medications is important in preventing theft, the abuse of prescription drugs, accidental poisonings, and groundwater contamination.

Seventeen volunteers made the Battle Ground event possible; it was a cooperative effort between the US Drug Enforcement Administration, Clark County Environmental Services, the PREVENT! Coalition; Unite!, PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, the Southwest Washington Pharmacy Association, and law enforcement personnel from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, and the Battle Ground and Ridgefield Police Departments.

The Battle Ground Police Department will take unwanted medications for safe disposal at their office located at 507 SW 1st Street, any time during regular business hours, Monday – Friday from 10 am to 5 pm.
