The Battle Ground Police Department is in the process of collecting department memorabilia, including photographs, newspaper clippings, equipment, and uniforms to be used for public display at the police department facility. To further develop the collection, the department is seeking items or information from the community that is related to the history of police services in Battle Ground.
The department was established in 1951 when the City of Battle Ground was incorporated. Staff is especially interested in obtaining a photograph of Jess Graffunder, believed to be the first town marshal serving from 1951 to 1952.
The collection will preserve the history of the department and will be on display for the public and for those officers who serve the Battle Ground community well into the future.
