Retail fireworks sales within the City of Battle Ground require a Fireworks Stand Permit from the City’s Community Development Department. Permit holders must be designated as a non-profit organization and be located in the City of Battle Ground or benefit the citizens of the City. Fireworks sales are allowed each year from June 28 through July 5th.
City code allows for a total of seven fireworks stand permits. Six of those permits are currently held in reserve for last year’s permit holders who have provided the required Notice of Intent for 2014, leaving one permit available.
The City is taking applications for the remaining permit which will be decided by lottery. Applications for the permit lottery are available by selecting the Fireworks link below, by contacting the Community Development Department at 360-342-5047, or at City Hall located at 109 SW 1st Street in Battle Ground.
Applications are due no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, March 21st.
The lottery drawing will take place on Wednesday, March 26th, 2 p.m. at city hall. Applicants need not be present at the time of the lottery; all applicants will be notified of the results immediately following the drawing. The lottery winner must submit a Fireworks Stand Permit Application no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27th.
