Land Use & Transportation Plan
The City is in the process of developing a Land Management and Transportation System Plan update based off the recent Community Vision and Strategic Action Plan adoption. The purpose of updating both plans is to lay the groundwork for what will provide a successful future for development and preservation of Battle Ground, while identifying areas of growth and viable economic development.
The City, along with a team of consultants and stakeholders, comprised of local residents and business owners, have been laying the groundwork to develop an updated Land Use Master Plan. An updated plan is one of several steps to implement Battle Ground’s Community Vision, the result of a 2018 visioning process that involved extensive community engagement. A land use master plan is a detailed plan for the community that addresses land use patterns, how infrastructure is planned to support growth, and how the Community Vision is implemented.
The stakeholder group has developed three land use alternatives to identify areas of growth, preservation, and economic development.
Where we are now
Online Storymap Open House & Comment Period
The City of Battle Ground wants your thoughts on three potential alternatives for its Land Use Master Plan. We invite you to an online project open house in the form of a Land Use Master Plan Storymap, where you will find information about the project, consider growth alternatives, and provide feedback. We encourage you to participate to help map our future. The storymap will remain online for viewing and feedback through August 17, 2020.
In addition to the online storymap open house, the city will host a virtual meeting on August 10 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The focus of the meeting is the land use plan and the city’s long-range planning efforts, and is intended to answer your questions and help facilitate dialogue.
We value your feedback and recognize that community participation is a vital element to help shape our future and create a city that we are all proud of and want to call home.
Register in advance for this meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
The alternatives in this storymap are conceptual and not set in stone. A preferred alternative will be chosen for the Land Use Master Plan based on the feedback that comes from the community and its stakeholders. The preferred alternative may include mixing and matching parts of different alternatives to get to the right solution for Battle Ground.
An updated land use plan will lay the groundwork for future development by identifying areas of growth, preservation, and economic development. This will also be the foundation for starting the transportation system plan.
