Department Mission
The Battle Ground Police Department will work in partnership with the community to provide the highest level of service while protecting the peace, and upholding the law with fairness.

Department Values

All members of the Battle Ground Police Department are expected to know and incorporate the values of the organization in the performance of their duties. The values of the Battle Ground Police Department are:

  • Integrity: The integrity of the individual member and of the department must always be above reproach. Citizens of our community must always trust their Police Department and every member of our department has an obligation to uphold that trust.
  • Quality Service: Our responsibility is to provide quality service to all persons, in a professional and efficient manner, and without bias.
  • Respect: We value human life, and have considerate and courteous regard for all persons. We follow, honor, and defend the constitution of this country.
  • Accountability: We accept responsibility for our decisions and actions.

2016 Department Goals

  • Implement Power DMS and establish the process for department policy updates and training.
  • Increase the Battle Ground Police Department's Public Outreach in events including:
    • Shop with a Cop
    • Tip a Cop
    • Coffee with a Cop
    • Department Facebook page
    • Cops in the classroom (read with kids, eat lunch, etc.)
  • Approve and publish an updated FTO Manual and incorporate concepts with regard to Blue Courage and policing in the 21st Century.
  • Start department training on Blue Courage and establish practices within the department that reinforce these concepts.
  • Revise and implement our department policy for processing vehicles that are impounded as evidence.
  • Implement the QueTel digital evidence system and train employees on its utilization.
  • Implement Automated Tactical Analysis of Crime Regional Analysis and Information Sharing (ATACRAIDS) with LexisNexis and RegJIN.  Use this system to standardize crime information in our monthly and annual reports.
  • Implement and train on the new CAD and MDC software by Fall of 2016.
  • Transition to a new regional records system by January 1, 2017.
  • Utilize a survey to conduct a 360 evaluation of our department's strengths and weaknesses that will allow us to identify changes in process, procedures, practices and/ or training.
  • Identify the Defensive Tactics Training curriculum that best fits our department's needs and that is supported by WCIA.
  • Finish full implementation of our 40mm less lethal launchers in our patrol fleet.
  • Finish full implementation of patrol rifles to all officers.
