Two City of Battle Ground projects, Battle Ground Skate Park and Kiwanis Park were recently honored at the 2007 Community Pride Design Awards ceremony for their innovative approach to architectural design, community enhancement and public facilities.
Mayor John Idsinga accepted both awards on behalf of the City. When accepting the award for Kiwanis Park, Mayor Idsinga noted "Many partnerships were created to refurbish the Kiwanis Building as part of the larger parks project." The collaborative effort included the Kiwanis, Battle Ground Art Alliance, Battle Ground School District, New Tradition Homes, Sun Country, Parr Lumber, Mutual Materials and a group of subcontractors who worked to complete the project.
Community Pride Design Awards are given annually in recognition of outstanding contribution to the community's livability, economic vitality and overall quality of life.
