The Economic Development program exists to build and retain economic investment in the community to bring even greater diversity and selection of services to our citizens. We recognize that prosperous business activity helps support high quality parks, transportation, public safety and other services.
The City has a population of approximately 15,810 and a diverse commercial and retail base. Due to it's location in Clark County, it's geographic independence from other incorporated cities, relationship to transportation systems and growth patterns, the City has grown to fill the role of the social and commercial hub of north and central Clark County, with a service population estimated at nearly 70,000, or nearly 20% of Clark County's population; over 270,000 people live within 10 miles of the City Center. The majority of Battle Ground school district facilities are located within the city, which increases the daytime population by about 7,000.
Despite our continued growth, the city enjoys a sense of peaceful country living, nearby lakes, streams, forest service areas, and other features, providing outstanding recreational opportunities. Battle Ground is also a reasonable commute to downtown Vancouver and Portland.
