The City Manager is appointed by City Council and, in the City's adopted council-manager form of government, serves as chief executive officer. The City Manager is the Council's chief policy advisor and is responsible for assuring that the goals of the City Council are achieved by directing day-to-day operations, preparing the budget, and coordinating the work of department heads.

The Executive Department is overseen by the City Manager's office and provides the following services:
