IT Manager Dan Oehler named 2008 City Employee of the Year

City Manager Dennis Osborn announced Dan Oehler, Information Technologies Manager, as the City of Battle Ground's 2008 Employee of the Year at last night's State of the City Address. Dan was selected from seven individuals nominated by fellow City employees and members of management for their exemplary efforts on behalf of the city during the past year. Other nominees were:
  • Dorothy Harrington, Planning Technician in the Community Development Department.
  • Mark Herceg, Assistant City Engineer in the Engineering Department.
  • Claire Lider, City Clerk in the Executive Department.
  • Jessica Rinaker, Building Permit Specialist in the Community Development Department.
  • Darsie Slawson, Customer Service Clerk in the Public Works Department.
  • Mike Venne, Foreman in the Public Works Department.
Dennis Osborn spoke to Dan's dedication and dependability, "Dan Oehler epitomizes a strong work ethic; he is focused on doing the best job possible for the City and fellow employees. He is a problem solver, meets all deadlines, and continually expands and enhances job knowledge. Dan's work impacts each and every employee at the City."

Dan Oehler has worked for the City of Battle Ground since August of 2004; he received his BA from BYU in 2000 and his MBA from Utah State in 2003. Key projects that Dan focused on during the past year include the upgrade of the City e-mail system; a phone system upgrade; maintaining and updating the City's communications and computer systems; and, as the City's only Information Technologies employee, a multitude of other projects.
