The 6th annual citizens academy, conducted by the Battle Ground Police Department is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 6, 2005.
The citizen's academy is an 8-week course that allows citizens the opportunity to learn about the Battle Ground Police Department. Throughout the course, citizens will learn every aspect of what the Battle Ground Police Department does. Students will have the opportunity to visit the county jail, the county morgue, the emergency dispatch center, participate in a day at the range where they will fire a full range of weapons, and do a ride along with an officer.
The City has had a very positive response from those who have taken part in this program. Due to the size limitations of the Police Department, the City is currently limited to a maximum of 14 students, so those interested should apply early. To apply, simply call the Battle Ground Police Department at 360-342-5100 and an application will be mailed to you. Those interested may also stop by the police department at 505 SW 1st street and pick up an application.
